Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions are very happy to donate £250 to the excellent work being done by Dudley – For the love of Scrubs – our NHS Needs You group who have made, and delivered, many hundreds of scrub sets, masks, mask clips and clothing bags to the Dudley Group of Hospitals and to many care homes in Dudley Borough.
To all your helpers a huge thank you.
The Kingswinford and Stourbridge Lions Club is holding its annual Duck Race on the afternoon of Sunday 7th June 2020 on the playing fields, off Kinver Steet, Wordsley.
We invite you to take part with a free stall as part of the Lion’s initiative to support local charities. Taking part will also help to make the event a success and support Lions in their efforts to work with the local community.Further details of the event will be circulated nearer the date but please contact us (ivor.caplan@kandslions.org.uk) now if you want to reserve a free pitch for your organisation.
A record total of £9810 was raised when Santa made his tour of the local area in his sleigh over the weekends leading up to Christmas, meeting and talking to local children and handing out sweets to everyone he met.
Over 25 Cheques were presented to local Charities and good causes that assisted with the Sleigh runs, The Paul Akrill Fund, Ridgewood High School Association, Brierley Hill and Kingswinford RNLI, St Mary’s Church – Kingswinford, Insight for Carers, Brierley Hill Samaritans, The Salvation Army, Friends of Young Achievers, Women v Breast Cancer, Red Box Project and many Local Scout and Guide Groups were just some of the recipients from the money raised.
Lions have helped support another local charity presenting a cheque to Vi Wood to support her ‘Leslie’s Care Packages for the Homeless’. This small non- profit voluntary group has achieved a tremendous amount in a short time by supporting local homeless and disadvantaged people.
Vi Wood said “I would like to say a massive and a special thank you to Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions for their support and for their very generous donation of £200, the money will be valuable in helping our homeless people.” For further information visit www.lesliescarepackages.org
