Lions Santa is cancelled for 2020

IMG_0558web.png

It is with  an awful lot of disappointment and sadness that Santa will not be able to visit his local areas this year. The Covid-19 pandemic has taken it’s toll on so many different areas of our daily life and Santa is no exception.

Whilst we are unable to make the usual visits we do still have a way that you can help your local charities and we have set up a JustGiving page at http://bit.ly/santassleigh2020 for those of you that would like to donate. All money received will be distributed to local charities and we thank you for your continued support.

Air Ambulances across the UK to receive £160,000 from Lions Clubs international Foundation

The #LCIFLions grant provides immediate support for this emergency service that touches lives in all our communities. Equipment and supplies were identified by air ambulance charities themselves. The total £161,468 (covered by the grant) includes separation screens, isolation, and decontamination equipment as well as PPE and other supplies. Research by @LionsClubsBritishIsles and @airambulancesuk revealed the impact of #COVID19 on air ambulance charities meant considerable extra, unbudgeted – day to day costs alongside a reduction in fundraising. Local #Lions clubs have continued to support their communities facing difficulties due to COVID-19. This latest boost for air ambulance charities comes on top of £140,000 awarded in grants to food banks and other causes nominated by Lions clubs across the British Isles.

Save time – Save lives!

The Lions Message in a Bottle helps save time and lives by storing all your relevant information in a small bottle that you keep in the fridge.

Write down the information on the form provided, put the sticker on the fridge and emergency services will know where to look and retrieve important information that could save your life.

These are free to those who would like one – order here for yours or for a relative.

Dudley – for the love of Scrubs

Kingswinford & Stourbridge Lions are very happy to donate £250 to the excellent work being done by Dudley – For the love of Scrubs – our NHS Needs You group who have made, and delivered, many hundreds of scrub sets, masks, mask clips and clothing bags to the Dudley Group of Hospitals and to many care homes in Dudley Borough.

To all your helpers a huge thank you.

The current climate is such that we cannot put you or ourselves at risk.

That does not mean that you cannot contact us if you need support or help.

Santa’ Sleigh

Well, Santa has fitted in his last Sleigh run for us today. He’s managed a marathon of 12 runs around the area and seen an estimated 700 children.

Santa would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported him again this year, it has been great to see so many people out in support – it is why he likes to help us – and has promised that he will be available next year.

With a huge thanks to everyone involved.

Final Preparations for Christmas!

Santa is finalising his Christmas preparations for 2019. Before he heads back to the Northpole, to ensure that all the presents are wrapped, labelled and ticked off against the many Christmas lists that he’s received over the past year, he is going to help us do three more Sleigh runs around Kingswinford and Stourbridge.

Look out for him on Friday in High Acres, he’s in and around Penfields on Saturday and his final run with us is around Charterfields & Blandford Mere on Sunday. Start times are: 6 pm on Friday and 4 pm on Saturday and Sunday.

Route details are here.

Santa is looking forward to seeing you all!
